10 Quintessential Ingredients in Thai Cuisine

Who doesn't love Thai Food?

Thai Cuisine Ingredients

As far as I can tell, everybody loves eating Thai food, especially traditional Thai style cuisine cooked from the hands of Thai people. If you've been lucky enough to visit Thailand for a holiday then you will know food means everything to Thai people. You just need to walk down any street in Bangkok or Northern Thailand's capital Chiang Mai and will be overwhelmed with food stands and markets offering all kinds of food from Pad Thai for Scorpions.

Not only are the ingredients important in making that delicious flavor but the tools play an important role too.

Mortar & Pestle

Every Thai household must have a Mortar & Pestle. All the famous Thai pastes are made with this, not by an electric blender, but by hands-on pounding. The old Thai people have a saying about the Mortar & Pestle. They say the Thai Man, when choosing his wife to be, would stand near the kitchen and listen the lady pounding the Pestle. Depending on how hard and fast she was pounding would play a big factor on marriage potential. Now, I am not sure if that means one thing or another thing but the story is great nevertheless.
